December 2011 – Winter Rules

We ask that all golfers please adhere to the course rules and use hedgehog wheels on trollies until futher notice. Golf Buggies may be used but they must keep to the buggy paths at all times.

CPGC – Invitation Day

After a wintery start to Saturday morning 62 hardy golfers took to the course for the event.

David Morris and his guest Rob Thole came in as the victors with a score of 43 points.

With 4 teams making 40 points the 2nd place team were Brendon Moss and Peter Chinnery with Yoga Gill and A. McEvoy taking third place on countback

‘Nearest the Pin’ was won by Ian Rowe with Chris Leonard taking the ‘Longest Drive’

David Morris spoke to thanks all that had played on what was a beautiful day for golf and made special mention of Colin Wills and his team for their continued hard work in presenting the golf course in such spectacular condition.

Thank you also to the staff of Greens who provided superb hospitality throughout the day.

Well done to David and Rob and all the players who took part on the day and heres to next year.

Northants Union Singles Knockout

Despite a fine performance Rob Horton was narrowly beaten at the recent final at Staverton. Having battled through several rounds, Rob was pipped at the post and had to settle for runner up spot.

Well done Rob for your efforts and representing the Club so well during the year

Collingtree Seniors success at County Championships

Members of Collingtree Seniors enjoyed great success at the Northamptonshire County Seniors Championships at the end of August.

Kevin Durkan won the individual “Best Net” competition and the team of Kevin Durkan, Tony Langley and Capper Rose won the team best net competition”

B’ Team get to the Final

Congratulations to Team Captain Dave Messom and the rest of the guys who triumphed over Hellidon Lakes in the Semi Final last weekend to reach the Handicap League Final which will be played on 9th October starting at 12.30.

It was a very tight match going down to the final pairing with an overall scoreline of 8-7 to Dave and the boys.

Northants Union Singles Knockout 2011

Congratulations to Rob Horton who after winning the Collingtree Park Singles Summer knockout in 2010 has represented the Club in the County Knockout this year. Following several victories Rob has reached the final to be played on 2nd October at Staverton Park.

Well done Rob and best of luck in the final.

Northants Golf Union Stableford Cup

Scratch Team players Andy Billson and Dave Morris represented Collingtree Park at this years Stableford Cup hosted by Whittlebury Park GC.

In very difficult cold, wet and windy conditions the dup beat the rest of the field by 4 shots and can be seen below receiving the trophy from President of the NGU, Gordon Rising.

Handicap Team Update August

On the 13th August our Handicap League Team faced a Cold Ashby Team on home turf knowing a victory and nothing less, would see them secure the League and as such progress to the Semi Final of the 2011 competition.

The match sides were pretty one sidede with Collingtree running out 23-4 winners securing the League title in the process. Stand out performance was from Kevin Parfitt and Trevor Twelvetree who won 8-0. Elsewhere there were good wins for Craig Robb and Steve Low, Stan Hall and Richard Underwood, Julian Robers with Team Captain Dave Messom & finally Mark Makepeace and Paul Hammond.

The Semi Final will take place on Saturday 10th September so please keep the date free and support the guys if possible – we will post venue and timing for the match once known – good luck Dave and the rest of the team. Can we make it 2 wins in 3 years??

New Members Night 24th August

The 2nd event of the year was held and  20 new members turned out to join Club Captain Craig Robb, Vice Captain Chris Malton and Seniors Vice Captain Melvin Hunter for a 9 hole Texax Scramble. The winning score was 28.9 (7 under par!).

Well done to our Winners, Tony Greenhill, Peter Harvey, Paul Harris and Dan O Shea (pictured below)After the Competition there was a short prize giving ceremony and a chance for our New Members to chat with members of the committee. Feedback was excellent and special mention was given to Colin and the Greenstaff for the excellent condition of the greens.

NGU Junior Inter Club Championship – 10th August

Held at Farthingstone Collingtree entered 2 sides into this years event.

The format for the day was rather unusual in that each of the team would be paired with 2 other players from other clubs and at the end of play, each member of the teams score would be added together with prizes for best 2 from 4, best 3 from 4 and best 3 gross scores all being played for.

In very difficult conditions the best net score was 70 and only 3 people from 60 who entered got a handicap reduction! Well done to Reece Greenhill who was one of the those.

At the end of a tough day our team of Aidan (net 78), Reece (net 71), Josh (net 76) and Dan (Net 79) won the Scottish Cup for the best 3 from 4 scores and came 2nd for the best 2 from 4. A superb performance from the boys and our congratulations to each one of them.
