July brings us longer evenings with good daylight and good weather. The mid-week comps allows us to make the most of the English Summer. Playing with you friends and getting to know other members in the Tuesday Stableford or the roll up on Thursday evenings.

I am delighted to report our teams are continuing to excel themselves. Iain Tait and Roo Smith won the right to be our representatives in the Daily Mail Foursomes through winning our Summer Foursomes 2014. 95,000 pairs nationwide set out to qualify this way! After a comfortable 4th round win against Market Harborough, they are drawn at home again against Cosby Golf Club. Sam Patel is also making a great job of leading the B team in the Handicap League. 100% record so far. Can they go through the season undefeated? The NGU Scratch League managed by Brendon Moss has just got underway with a good win. Trevor Twelftree’s Hollingsworth League team are finding their confidence after a fine win against Wellingborough.

We are just back from the Captain’s Weekend. 35 members competed over 3 stunning courses in South Wales. The Venner Trophy was won by Andy Bilson taking the title by one point over the ever consistent Brendon Moss.

Have a look at the new CPGC website. The members’ area has all the recent match and competition reports for you to catch up with.

Dick Underwood’s sponsored event kicks of July with the Sat Insure Trophy. It is a hugely popular day with a shotgun start and lunch after.

Club Championships starts with the Seniors on Friday, 10th July. The mens and ladies play over Saturday and Sunday 36 holes for the scratch and nett titles. The entry sheet is with the ProShop. The course is looking good with the pick and place rule cancelled. The seeded divots have had a chance to recover so play the ball as it lies until further notice.

Look forward to seeing you at the club.
