Collingtree Park Junior Open – A Showcase of Young Talent on Monday, May 6th

This year’s Collingtree Park Junior Open saw an impressive turnout of 49 young golfers competing in both the 9-hole and 18-hole events, under splendid weather conditions—a welcome change after a notably wet winter. The course, meticulously prepared by Dan Scott and the greenkeeping team, provided a perfect setting for what turned out to be a day of remarkable performances and exciting competition.

9-Hole Competitions
The 9-hole events kicked off with strong performances from the juniors. Congratulations to Jessica Walker from Collingtree Park, who scored an impressive 20 Stableford points. In the boys’ category, Ethan Ruiz from Daventry & District took the top spot with an outstanding 23 points, showcasing his growing skills and competitive spirit.

18-Hole Gross Competitions
The 18-hole Gross competitions were a display of exceptional talent, especially among the female golfers. Lila Bisset of Northants County not only won the girls’ competition but also set a new female course record with a stunning 5 under par 66. Her back nine was nothing short of spectacular, including consecutive eagles and completing the stretch in just 30 shots—a performance that will be remembered for years to come. On the boys’ side, the competition was fierce, with Kai Raymond from Peterborough Milton clinching the win with a very respectable gross score of 73, demonstrating skill and consistency throughout his game.

18-Hole Net Competitions
The net scoring in the 18-hole events was incredibly close, highlighting the competitive nature of the event. Sophia Vanezi from Northampton Golf Club triumphed in the girls’ category with a net 69, while Krishan Panesar from Collingtree Park claimed victory in the boys’ category with a net 68, both delivering performances that speak volumes of their potential and dedication to the sport.
